  New Applicant Open Day & Interview Session

  This open day is available to primarily new applicants, we also welcome existing members that wish to attend and wish to sit in on the presentation and introduce themselves to the new members.

  If you have recently applied (or joined and wish to sit in) to become a member of the NZDA Auckland Branch. To help with processing your application, we are making interview times available. This is the last step to complete your application.

  Could you please RSVP to this event.

  Please make sure to have your firearms license with you during the interview.

  The interviews are a relaxed introduction and small brief of the history of the NZDA and bit of a brief about our club in a group format with a Q&A at the end.

  We then we will complete the membership admin one-on-one with a member of the committee.

  An introduction to Reloading...

  

  If you are looking to get into reloading your own ammo and don't know where to start or you have just starting out on your reloading journey and not getting the results you are seeking, then this Reloading 101 workshop will be a good place to start.

  Satish has only been reloading for a number of years, though has reloaded 1000's of round across a number of calibers. Satish has made plenty of mistakes that he has learnt from. On the other hand, Steve has been reloading for over 20 years across calibers that span from .22 all the way up to .577

  We will cover off the essential equipment and components required, as well as the various techniques in each step of the reloading process from brass preparation to reloading a live round.

  On the night we will have a live demonstration of each step.

  Space is limited- $20.00 for members only and you must register and pay via our website prior to the event.

• Photographic Competition 2024 (Closes 24th May)

  Do you regularly take photos while hunting? Or do you have a single image you're proud taking over the last 12 months? Doesn't matter if you have 1 or a dozen photographs, you should enter our photographic comp!

  Competition categories range from game animals, scenic and even game camera!

  Before you enter:
  
  1. Browse the competition categories here.
  2. Ensure your photographs meet the rules here.

  How to enter:

  1. Fill out an entry form found here.
  2. Print your photographs at a local print store at 5x7"
  3. Write your name & entry details on the back of the photograph (the use of a label/sticker will ensure your photo isn't damaged)
  4. Drop the physical form along with the physical images to the clubrooms! There is a wooden drop box found beside the front door for 24/7 drop off.
  5. Email digital versions of your entries to groy@deerstalkers.co.nz - you MUST complete this step to validate your entry.

  Photographic comp entries are due by the evening of the 24th May (during Pre Measuring Night event)

  Photographic entries and placings will be judged and then displayed on the evening of Measuring Night.

• Party Hunt: Galatea Rusa Road End (Kings Birthday)

  New Party Hunt Ballot System:
  Due to popular demand, we are trialing a ballot system to secure your spot. Simply register yourself for a 'ballot ticket' and the party hunt organiser will draw these and inform registrants within a couple of weeks of opening the event up. Please wait for the organiser to contact you. This aims to keep registration fair, between members who are active on their phone or computer during the day and not - typically these events are released without warning.

  About the Rusa hunt:
  6x beds available in the hut, first in first served. For those camping make sure you bring a good sleeping bag and sleeping mat, as it will get cold.

  1. There is access to the hut door for most standard vehicles, plenty of parking and space to set up tents.
  2. Running water, shower and BBQ available at the hut.
  3. Species include Red and Rusa deer.

  Bush stalking and lookout hunting available, shots from lookouts range from 100 to 600 meters. Note: No shooting of pigs within a 5km radius of the hut.
