Range Officer Training 25th & 27th May

Have you ever thought about becoming an NZDA Auckland Branch Range Officer?

Our range is run by club members (like yourself) that volunteer the occasional weekend to keep the gates open and the barrels hot on the mound! We need enthusiastic helpers to put their hand up and commit to the short training course provided at our own club facilities.

This training session is for all new prospective Range Officers as well as an invitation to all current range officers to come and meet the new guys before they are rostered on together and also take the opportunity for a refresher.

What it is to be a Range Officer

Being a Range Officer (RO) is more than just standing around on the Range in an Orange Vest blowing a whistle every 15 to 20 minutes and yelling cease firing.

What we are looking for is a person that has an in-depth knowledge of all types of firearms and shooting competitions, plus the ability to help range users with problems and also people new to shooting.

Most of our current Range Officers run a General Range Day, an event, or competition around 4 to 5 times a year.  We have regular Range Officer meetings to fill in the Roster for the following months so that people can fit in a Range Duty as free time becomes available to them. Changing a rostered time due to and unforeseen event is relatively easy as all RO’s are on the Whats App RO Group so communicating and swapping times with another RO is not an issue.

What we would like to see in an RO Candidate:

  • A keen interest in firearms and shooting.
  • A basic understanding of Range use and requirements.
  • Ability to donate your free time to our Range say 4 to 5 times a year.
  • A desire to run Club events and be involved with a great team of existing RO’s.
  • Being able to manage people and situations in a calm and collected manner.
  • Last but not least being able to enjoy the company of likeminded hunters and shooters.

If you think that you fit the requirements to be a Range Officer we are very interested in hearing from you
