The Auckland NZDA conservation team have built 101 DOC200 predator traps boxes to be installed in the Glaisnock area of Fiordland National Park next year. This project isn’t completed though, the steel hardware inside the trap boxes accounts for around 60% of the total cost of the trap sets. We would like to fundraise this money and donate it to the Fiordland Wapiti Foundation to contribute 100% of the cost of our trap boxes. The total cost of the steel hardware is $13,029 and this is our target value for the fundraiser. To achieve this funding Auckland NZDA are running a raffle packed full of over $5,000 of hunting based prizes. There have been some wicked prizes donated to the cause by some like minded sponsors, and these will be split into 3 major prize packs. This is a great chance to contribute some money towards a hunter-led conservation project in the middle of prized Wapiti hunting country, and arguably one of the most natural, untouched and beautiful places in New Zealand. If you have hunted or are planning to hunt Fiordland for Wapiti in the future, this is your chance to contribute towards a group of legends who are undertaking the management of conservation in this historical area. - Tickets are $45 each, which covers approx one third the cost of a trap box fit out. -Alternatively you can buy three tickets for $125 and cover the cost of a complete trap box fit out. - The fundraiser will be drawn live at the February NZDA club night (13/2/2024). - There will be some door prizes for those attending on the night. - Any excess funding will be used to complete the next awesome conservation project.
